Important Things to Know for 2011-2012
- NEW – NBS will be the Third Party Administrator (TPA) for RegionXI BC for plan year September 1, 2011 through August 31, 2012. If electing the medical reimbursement account, that election must be made again during this year’s enrollment. A NEW Visa Card will be issued to those employees who participate in the flex card plan.Your current MGM flex card will no longer work after 08/31/2011. Direct deposit is available. If you are using the Visa Flex Card, please be sure to hold on to your receipts for 12 months.
- NEW – Identity theft protection through ID Watchdog is now available through the Region XI Benefits Cooperative. This product is designed to monitor your identity and alert you of any items which may compromise your identity. In addition, ID watchdog offers recuperation services should your identity become compromised.
- Dental Plan – Oraquest and Guardian will remain the dental coverage providers for the upcoming plan year. There will be a slight rate increase to the High Option PPO plan, but all other plans will remain the same.
- Vision – Block Vision will remain as the vision plan provider for the upcoming plan year. Members pay a co-pay of $10 for exams and materials. Exams, lenses and frames are covered once every 12 months.
- Long Term Disability Plan – Unum will remain the long term disability carrier for The Region XI Co-op. Plan provides a monthly income to an individual that is disabled due to an accident or illness. There are 2 different plans available with benefits becoming available from the 1st day of disability to as late as the 180th day. Benefits are payable up to 2 years or to age 65 for injury and sickness depending on which plan you choose.
- Cancer Plan – American Public Life will remain the cancer plan provider for Region XI. The plan allows for enrollment on a guaranteed issue basis (NO health questions asked) however, no benefits are payable during the 1st year of coverage for a pre-existing condition. Cancer insurance is designed to be a supplement and pays for many cost not covered by your major medical plan. There are 2 plan options available, both offer a lump sum Critical Illness benefit and reimburse up to $50.00/annually for each insured person for screening test results.
- Accident Plan – American Public Life will remain the accident plan provider for Region XI. The plan pays benefit amounts for covered medical expenses as a result from an accident, directly to you! Coverage is available for ages18-64 and is portable. You can choose to keep your benefit even if you leave the district or retire.
- Voluntary Term Life – Dearborn National will remain the life insurance provider for the Region XI Benefits Cooperative. Employees are eligible to elect 7x their salary in a life insurance benefit up to $500,000. Employees can also elect a benefit up to 50% of their own elected benefit for their spouse as well as $10,000 for each dependent child. New employees can elect up to $230,000 without answering health questions.
